Greetings to employees and veterans of Russia’s security agencies

December 20, 2014

Vladimir Putin congratulated current officers and veterans of Russia’s security agencies on their professional holiday, Security Agency Worker’s Day.

The message of greetings reads, in part:

“The history of Russia’s security agencies has many glorious, heroic pages. Times and generations pass, but the protection of the country’s national interests and its citizens security have always been the key priorities of your work. We pay tribute to the courage and steadfastness of our veterans, to their patriotism, responsible attitude to the job and impeccable personal qualities. And we honour those who continue serving their Fatherland and their people in our times. I would like to highlight the fact that the current challenges and threats and the emergence of new destabilising factors require greater efficiency of the entire national security system. The more advanced and in step with the times they are the more effectively they will resolve the tasks before them, the key one being strong and resolute resistance to international terrorism and extremism, to any attempts by foreign special services to deal a blow to Russia, to its political and economic interests. At the same time they should continue their uncompromising struggle against the criminal threat, corruption and organised crime.”
