Greetings to an international conference devoted to fighting the revival of Nazi ideology

December 17, 2010

Dmitry Medvedev sent his greetings to participants and guests of the international conference A World Without Nazism: the Shared Task of Humankind.

The message reads in part:

”The issues you will discuss are crucial for the development of today's world. The Second World War left a catastrophic legacy for humanity and claimed many millions of victims; it endangered the existence of entire peoples and undermined the fundamental foundations of our civilization.

It is our duty to do everything in our power to use the lessons of this war to prevent such tragedies and the revival of Nazi ideology. We must join our efforts to combat falsification of the history of the war, attempts to revise its results, and the rehabilitation of Nazi criminals and their accomplices.

I hope that your conference will make a significant contribution to achieving this important goal, and will unite countries and peoples based on shared human values.“

The international conference A World Without Nazism: the Shared Task of Humankind is taking place in Moscow to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 65th anniversary of the start of the Nuremberg trials.

Conference participants include members of parliaments and governments, public and political figures, NGO representatives, as well as experts from Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Europe and the US.
