Vladimir Putin congratulated Interior Ministry personnel and veterans on their professional holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“This holiday symbolises respect for the best traditions of service to our Fatherland and the Russian people, traditions that were set by your predecessors over generations.
Interior Ministry employees are entrusted to protect our citizens’ lives and peace, and to fight against infringements of law and order. This is a difficult, important and very honourable mission. And we are proud of the true professionals who perform their duty with dignity, honour their uniform, and exemplify personal decency and integrity.
Let me emphasise that ensuring public safety, defending the rights and interests of our citizens, and achieving successful results in fighting crime and corruption depends on the clarity and coherence of your actions, the ability to take well-calculated decisions, and to properly assess a given situation. And it is therefore necessary to continue efforts designed to improve the efficiency of the Interior Ministry’s work and to strengthen its human resource potential.”
