Congratulations to current and former space and rocket sector workers

April 12, 2013

Vladimir Putin congratulated current and former workers in the rocket and space sector on their professional holiday, Cosmonautics Day.

The President said, in particular, in his telegram:

“Our country is justifiably proud of its unique and truly historic role in space exploration. We have immense respect for those who were at the origins of our country’s space programme and wrote memorable, unforgettable chapters in the chronicle of its victories and achievements.

Over the last decades, scientists, engineers, military people and specialists have put their effort and talent into creating truly cutting-edge and pioneering projects and building competitive space and rocket systems.

The effectiveness of the space and rocket sector today depends on your competence, professionalism, and responsible approach to your work. This is vital for maintaining Russia’s status as a space power and for its continued confident social and economic development and innovative advances, and for guaranteeing national security.”

Russia celebrates Cosmonautics Day on April 12, the day when Yury Gagarin made to first ever space flight in 1961.
