The Russian Federation's presidential elections were held on March 2, 2008. 74 746 649 voters participated in the elections. Dmitry Medvedev received 52 530 712 votes, a figure that represents 70.28 per cent or more than half of the votes cast.
In keeping with tradition, the ceremony for swearing in the new President of Russia took place in the Grand Kremlin Palace.
