June 22, 2008

In the document, signed following bilateral talks in Brest, the two Presidents expressed their satisfaction with the steady development of relations between the two countries. Mr Medvedev and Mr Lukashenko stressed that Russia and Belarus will expand their trade, economic and industrial cooperation and encourage Russian and Belarusian investors.

The two leaders noted the importance of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in ensuring collective security, military-technical cooperation, and helping the international community find solutions to the new global challenges.

Mr Medvedev and Mr Lukashenko condemned any attempts to rewrite the results of the Second World War and emphasised the importance of paying constant attention to war veterans’ needs and immortalising the memory of war heroes.
