Mr Medvedev signed the Decree ‘On the Russian Federation State Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists’. The President announced the decree at a meeting with representatives of youth organisations. This is only part of the support the state is giving young people in science, Mr Medvedev said.

The President said that the government should provide grants and support programmes for innovation, but that the main work on developing new research projects should come from the business community.
