The message reads, in part:
“Today, increasing the competitiveness of our domestic economy through modernisation and widespread innovation is an absolute national priority. This will allow Russia to become a country whose prosperity relies on intellectual resources and significantly strengthen our position in the global market. Most importantly, it will improve the quality of life of our citizens and open up exciting new opportunities for their creative and business fulfillment.
To achieve these goals we must create an effective system for producing long-term forecasts of our socio-economic development. I hope that your forum, which brings together prominent experts, business community and government representatives, will contribute to solving this urgent problem.”
The conference is taking place in Moscow on January 21–23, 2010. Its goal is to identify priorities for social and economic policies and potential tools for their implementation over the next decade.
