“I was profoundly saddened by the news that an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 crashed after taking off from Beirut International Airport, killing the crew and passengers, many of whom were Lebanese citizens.

I express my condolences to you, and in your person to the friendly people of Lebanon. I ask you to pass on my sincere sympathy to the victims’ families.”
