The message reads, in part:

“The laureates include recognised masters and talented newcomers, but they are all united by their skill, creative audacity and devotion to their beloved work. Most important of all, they all share a desire to produce quality, interesting and memorable films that are a worthy reflection of the finest traditions in Russian and world cinematography. This explains why the Golden Eagle awards have always caught the attention of both specialists and fans of cinema, which has the greatest mass appeal of all the arts, and are deservedly seen as a national cultural event.”

The prize is awarded every year by the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia and is a professional award recognising outstanding achievements in cinematography and exceptional professional contribution to the development of Russian and world cinema.
