The President signed the Federal Law On Amendments to the Russian Federation Criminal Code, passed by the State Duma on July 15, 2009, and approved by the Federation Council on July 18, 2009.
The amendments introduce considerably tougher penalties for crimes against the life and health, and for sexual violation of minors.
