Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants and guests at the 17th World Congress of Russian Press.
The message reads, in part:
“Your traditional forum has long become a large, important event in the public life of Russia and other nations. It serves to develop international humanitarian cooperation, promote the best journalistic experience, and strengthen professional and personal contacts.
This year’s congress is being held on the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. So the topic of preserving our common historical memory has become central for Russian and foreign Russian-language publications. I will note your significant role in the honest, impartial reporting on the events of World War II, countering attempts to falsify historic facts. The Victory was won at an enormous, exorbitant price, and nobody has the right to rewrite its outcomes, or revise them.
I am confident that this congress will be held in a creative, constructive atmosphere and launch promising joint projects.”
