Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde on the Russian side’s initiative.
The conversation addressed cooperation between Russia and the IMF following the July 5 Greek referendum on the conditions for international creditors’ provision of financial assistance to Athens.
Mr Putin and Ms Lagarde expressed hope for the continued search for an optimal resolution to the Greek debt problem that takes all parties’ interests into account.
