The subject on the agenda was the implementation of the federal targeted programme for sports development through to 2015, in particular, the construction of soccer fields and large stadiums.

Mr Mutko briefed the President on a number of projects to build standardised design cultural and sports facilities in towns with populations of 25,000–30,000 people. Mr Medvedev said that regardless of the economic crisis, provisions need to be made in regional budgets for funds for building sports facilities.

The President announced during the meeting that he has signed an executive order awarding state decorations to 128 Russians who won medals at the 2008 XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing.
