Meeting of the Union State Supreme State Council

February 25, 2016, Minsk

Vladimir Putin took part in the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.

The agenda includes key aspects of cooperation between the two countries, including the restoration of the Union State’s stable economic development and further harmonisation of norms and regulations in industry, currency and finance, and the service sectors of the two countries.

Following the meeting, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko approved a package of documents dealing, in particular, with the results of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in the previous year and plans for the current year.

The presidents approved the Union State 2014 budget execution report and the 2016 budget.

Other approved decisions cover the implementation of the 2014–2015 coordinated foreign policy action programmes and plans for 2016–2017, as well as plans for the use of the regional armed forces group of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

The two leaders also approved a resolution on the State Secretary of the Union State, on the main issues to be considered by Supreme State Council meetings in 2016, and the implementation of the priority areas and primary medium-term (2014–2017) development tasks of the Union State.

Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko also made statements for the press.
