The telegram reads:

“News of the tragic accident in the mine in Handlova that resulted in the deaths of dozens of people was painfully received by Russian citizens. Relatives and friends lost what they hold most dear – their husbands, fathers and sons.

I ask you to convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the explosion, and my words of support and sympathy to the friendly Slovakian people.”
