International Day of the Family was established by the UN General Assembly in 1993. Russia has been celebrating the date since 1995. This year is Year of the Family in Russia.
On May 13, President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree ‘On Establishing the Order of Parental Honour’. The order will be awarded to Russian citizens for their contribution towards strengthening the institution of the family and raising children.
