Meeting with Education and Science Minister Olga Vasilyeva

Vladimir Putin met with Education and Science Minister Olga Vasilyeva. The discussion focused on the new academic year, building new schools, the National Final School Exam results and school Olympiads.

The Minister reported on progress in the implementation of the 2016–2025 programme of creating new jobs at schools. She said that 92 new schools have opened this year and 53 Russian regions received subsidies for building new schools.

Ms Vasilyeva said that the results of the National Final School Exam were better this year, as evidenced by the high average mark of 65.5.

The Minister also updated the President on the results of the Nationwide School Olympiad and Russian pupils’ participation in international Olympiads, adding that Russia won the right to host the International Mathematical Olympiad in St Petersburg in 2020.
