Meeting with Lazar Matveyev

On the eve of Victory Day, Vladimir Putin visited Lazar Matveyev, former KGB representative at the Ministry of State Security of the German Democratic Republic, who was Vladimir Putin’s supervisor in Dresden in the second half of the 1980s.

The President congratulated his former supervisor on his 90th birthday.

Vladimir Putin visited Lazar Matveyev together with Nikolai Tokarev and Sergei Chemezov, with whom he had worked in the German Democratic Republic. The President conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Mr Matveyev on his birthday and the upcoming Victory Day and offered a toast to his health.

Vladimir Putin presented Lazar Matveyev a presidential watch and a copy of Pravda newspaper published on the date of Mr Matveyev’s birth in 1927.
