Opening of 2017 World Judo Championships

Vladimir Putin attended competitions at the 2017 World Judo Championships, which opened in Budapest.

Together with Mr Putin at the opening ceremony were Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban and President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga.

The championship is taking place on August 28-September 3. The competition programme includes 7 disciplines for men and women in the different weight categories, and team competitions. A total 795 athletes from 134 countries will take part, including Russia’s 30-strong team.
