Vladimir Putin congratulated employees and veterans of the Emergencies Ministry and the civil defence system on its 85th anniversary.
The message of congratulations reads, in part:
“You have a right to be proud of the professional, highly skilled experts who laid the foundations of the civil defence system and set an example of courage and loyalty to the duty and the oath. Their names are written in the heroic history of the Motherland.
Today, civil defence has significant technical, economic and human resource potential. While taking part in rescue operations, all of you are effective team members and you are the first to arrive to rescue those in trouble. Therefore, your service is respected by society.
Great responsibility and the need to respond to new threats make you face major current objectives. It is important to introduce the latest technologies and equipment frequently, and to develop warning and risk prediction systems, as well as to develop educational activities in health and safety.
I am sure that the employees of the Emergencies Ministry and the civil defence system will continue performing their official duties as well as they always have.”
