The presidents of Russia and Belarus had a look at the operation of the joint regional task force command at the Obuz-Lesnovsky training range in Belarus and inspected mobile field control posts, particularly, the auxiliary control post of the Russian Federation General Staff.

Then Mr Medvedev and Mr Lukashenko moved to the command post to watch the counterattack by squadrons of the Russian 20th army.

The exercises included such aspects as organising redeployment of the Russian Armed Forces’ command-and-control bodies and troops in Belarus, as well as military missions intended to contain and subsequently suppress armed conflicts, confronting natural and man-caused disasters, strategic deterrence and maintaining the Union State’s security.

Following the exercises Dmitry Medvedev and Alexander Lukashenko visited the military base in Baranovichi where they inspected the new Belarusian-made military hardware, in particular, a tactical command and control post module capable of interfacing with the Russian Armed Forces’ automation facilities complex.

The presidents watched the military equipment for the Air Force and Air Defence. They specifically examined UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) pre-production models capable of transmitting intelligence information, and Sprut control and guidance posts capable of coaching to targets 12 air cells of 12 aircraft each, both Russian and Belarusian.

After reviewing the parade by the military units involved with the exercise, Mr Medvedev and Mr Lukashenko presented award watches to 54 Russian and Belarusian servicemen.
