Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants and guests of the Forum of Small Towns and Historical Settlements.
The message reads, in part:
“Your agenda includes serious and urgent issues linked with improving the infrastructure, ensuring high living standards, searching for new approaches to the dynamic development of small towns and historical settlements, and preserving their cultural and spiritual heritage and original and inimitable flair.
Successful resolution of these tasks directly depends on the efficiency of the local authorities, the professionalism and competence of municipal officials and their ability to conduct dialogue with residents. It is necessary to support more actively public, cultural and business initiatives of citizens and involve them in implementing programmes aimed at improving territories and developing a comfortable urban environment, to make broader use of the best regional practices and propose new projects that will be duly supported by the state.”
