The reform of courts of general jurisdiction, examination procedures to become a judge, and problems concerning judicial education were the subjects of discussion at the meeting.
Mr Lebedev said that Russia's Supreme Court has prepared a draft federal constitutional law on courts of general jurisdiction since they are currently governed by an old 1982 law on the judicial system. Mr Medvedev pledged to follow extremely closely results of work designed to improve legislation governing Russia's judicial system carried out by the Supreme Court.
