Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of greetings to participants and organisers of choreographic contest, Grand Prix of the Mikhailovsky Theatre

October 24, 2009

The message reads, in part:

”Russian ballet is a unique classical art that has received worldwide recognition. The very rich legacy of its masters has always served as a benchmark against which to measure performance style. It is natural that your contest, designed to preserve the best traditions of national ballet and support Russia's leading ballet schools, has attracted a great deal of public attention.

I have no doubt that the Grand Prix in Mikhailovsky Theatre will act as one more important stage in the professional life of participants. I wish the young performers inspiration, luck and well-deserved victories, and wish wonderful impressions to spectators.“

The Grand Prix of Mikhailovsky Theatre is a charitable project that supports Russian choreographic schools. Grand Prix finalists and soloists from the British Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, English National Ballet, Bolshoi Theatre, Mariinsky Theater, Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre and Mikhailovsky Theatre attended a gala concert.
