Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the Jose Carreras Grand Prix International Tenor Competition, organised by the Yelena Obraztsova Foundation and currently underway in Moscow.
The message reads, in part:
“It is gratifying to see Yelena Obraztsova’s noble and selfless ideas and initiatives materialise into real undertakings and endeavours even today, enriching the cultural life of the country and the world with new exciting and creative events, and your admirable project is an excellent confirmation of that.
The competition, headed by one of the world’s leading tenors, Jose Carreras, is designed to find and support gifted and promising young performers and to develop international cultural contact.
This event certainly offers the participants and guests a unique opportunity to meet real stars in the vocal arts, winners of the Yelena Obraztsova competition from different years, and to connect to the great history and traditions of the Russian school of opera.”
