August 12, 2019

Vladimir Putin signed the Executive Order On Approving the Composition of the Presidential Council on the Russian Language and issued instructions for the Council’s Presidium membership and its areas of activity.

In addition to leading Russian philologists and linguists, the new council includes representatives of the pedagogical community, Russian literature historians, directors of literary museums, writers and publishers. The council represents the associations of Russian language and literature teachers in the Russian Federation.

The council was established in 2014 to promote the development, protection and support of the Russian language and to coordinate international humanitarian cooperation on these issues. The council is headed by Presidential Advisor Vladimir Tolstoy.
