Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the Third International Jigoro Kano Judo Tournament.
The message reads, in part:
“I am satisfied to note that your tournament has become a true adornment of the Eastern Economic Forum’s sports programme and that once again talented young men and women representing countries where judo is traditionally especially popular, such as Russia, Japan, South Korea, China and Mongolia, have gathered in Vladivostok.
Such large competitions held in an atmosphere of fair and uncompromising combat, partnership and mutual respect help hone young participants’ professional skills and physical shape as well as promoting cooperation in sports, culture and youth policy.
And, of course, they are aimed at promoting the ideals and values of judo all over the world.
I am confident that this tournament will become a big and unforgettable event for all the participants, and the spectators will enjoy dramatic fights and beautiful victories.”
