Greetings on 75th anniversary of Moscow Suvorov Military School

October 2, 2019

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the faculty, cadets and alumni of the Moscow Suvorov Military School on the 75th anniversary of the legendary school.

The message reads, in part:

“Established during the Great Patriotic War, your school has a rich history and many generations of graduates who have found their mission in life in military and government service, science, culture and business and who have never forgotten their alma mater and its wonderful teachers and mentors.

It is gratifying that the current cadets respect the school’s traditions and the ideals of friendship, combat fraternity and mutual assistance, which they inherit from their senior comrades. The school’s cadets are noted for a responsible attitude to education, community service and participation in patriotic events and ceremonies.”

Suvorov military schools were established during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 for the children of soldiers and partisans, as well as for orphans whose parents perished in the war. The schools were named after Russian military commander Alexander Suvorov (1730–1800).
