President Medvedev said it was necessary to expand relations between Russia and the Council of Europe, that the agenda of mutual relations comprised a wide range of issues, and that numerous problems required joint solution.

Mr Davis is attending the Eighth Annual Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe that has opened in St Petersburg, and which is discussing the role of prosecutors in protecting human rights and public interests beyond the legal sphere.
