Greetings on opening of 13th Russian World Assembly

November 2, 2019

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants, organisers and guests of the 13th Russkiy Mir [Russian World] Assembly.

The message reads, in part:

“It is symbolic that this year, which is the Year of the Theatre in Russia, the forum is taking place in Yaroslavl, the home of the first professional Russian theatre.

I am certain that the special atmosphere of this beautiful ancient city, its invaluable architectural landmarks and works of art will inspire Assembly participants to work productively and hold constructive discussions on preserving our rich spiritual, historical and cultural legacy and promoting the Russian language.

These priority goals require creative collaboration between the state, civil and regional associations, and a partnership with our compatriots abroad. This is why the versatile activity of such representative public organisations as the Russkiy Mir Foundation is so important and relevant.

The foundation’s educational, awareness-raising, publishing and creative projects are always exciting and innovative. They popularise the values promoted by Russian literature and culture, expand the common Russian-speaking media landscape and strengthen Russia’s standing in the world.

And of course, your sincere determination to make a personal contribution to addressing major national challenges and strengthening international humanitarian cooperation deserves the highest recognition.”
