Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants in a meeting of the Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, which is underway in Ufa.
The message reads, in part:
“It is symbolic that your meeting has been timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with which Russia has long been energetically collaborating in many spheres.
The things we have in common are the principles of a fair and democratic world order, as well as the striving to uphold the primacy of law in international affairs and to promote stability and security on all continents.
It is notable that Russia and the OIC member states coordinate their activities against global threats and challenges and their efforts to settle regional conflicts and various humanitarian problems.
You will be discussing the current factors of expanding the inter-religious dialogue and maintaining civil peace and social stability in the context of religious diversity.
I hope that you will hold constructive and substantial discussions and that your ideas and your initiatives will help to build trust and mutual understanding among our countries and peoples.”
