Greetings on anniversary of National State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company

July 14, 2020

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the staff and veterans of the National State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of one of Russia’s largest media corporations.

The message reads, in part:

“This anniversary is a huge day for VGTRK personnel and for Russian journalism in general. The company, which was established in 1990, has always played an active part in the life of the country. The staff of your television channels and radio stations has always been at the forefront of the outreach efforts, addressing their objectives professionally in accordance with their basic values, such as respect for the journalistic code of ethics, operational efficiency and an objective coverage of the most important events in Russia and the world.

It is notable that you deeply respect the traditions created by your veterans, who have won broad respect in your profession. At the same time, you remain open to innovative and progressive solutions, and you are successfully implementing ambitious ideas and long-term projects, as well as expanding the range of your programmes. Of course, I would also like to point out the great and even crucial contribution of VGTRK to the development of digital television in Russia.”

VGTRK comprises the Rossiya-1 and Rossiya-K national television channels, over 80 regional networks, a group of themed channels, the Rossiya-24 round-the-clock channel, the international Russian-language channel RTR Planeta, the Russian-language version of Euronews, four radio stations (Radio Rossii, Mayak, Kultura and Vesti FM), as well as the Rossiya national online channel, which comprises dozens of online resources.
