Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants in the Ostrova (Islands) National Patriotic Youth Forum, which is underway on Sakhalin from August 30 to September 4.
The message reads, in part:
“It is gratifying that your forum has joined the community of interesting and instructive youth forums that have already been held. The forum, kicking off during the Year of Memory and Glory, is designed to provide an important venue for the implementation of educational, awareness and military patriotic projects, which are needed in society, and to bring together for this purpose energetic and concerned young people from many Russian regions who want to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands and to the preservation of historical memory about the main WWII events that took place in the Far East. In addition to this, your forum will offer the island residents an opportunity to take part in various cultural, travel, exhibition and sports programmes.”
