The amendments concern the issue of foreign travel passports and biometric passport validity term.
In particular, the amendments will increase the validity term for passports with embedded computer chip holding digital data to ten years, which serves the interests of Russian citizens and also brings the Russian legislation more in line with international norms.
The Federal Law will go into effect on March 1, 2010.
