Vladimir Putin sent a message to Anna Shcherbakova, Yelizaveta Tuktamysheva and Alexandra Trusova congratulating them on winning the women’s singles event at the 2021 World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.
The message reads, in part:
“I congratulate you on your great achievement at the 2021 world championship in Stockholm. For the first time ever, the entire medal podium in the women’s singles event was Russian.
You displayed talent and high professionalism, and successfully performed beautiful and difficult programmes. I am sure this success based on many years of training and your mentors’ efforts will become yet another page of triumph in the annals of Russian sport and a solid foundation on the way to the upcoming Olympics.
I want to single out Anna Shcherbakova’s excellent performance. The world championship victory has become a great present for your birthday.”
