Dmitry Medvedev sent his condolences to President of the Republic of Iraq Jalal Talabani following a series of explosions in Baghdad

January 25, 2010

The message reads, in part:

“I was very sad and indignant to learn about the terrorist bombings of three hotels in the centre of Baghdad, which killed and wounded over a hundred peaceful citizens.

I would like to reiterate Russia’s firm solidarity with the people and government of Iraq in its fight against terrorism whose victims are innocent people. I am certain that extremists and terrorists will be rebuffed, and I believe that continuing comprehensive dialogue and pursuing national concord while accommodating the interests of all political parties, confessional and ethnic groups, will succeed to the benefit of the independent Iraq.

Please convey my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims, as well as my wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured.”
