The 2009 prize winners are:

Pavel Belov (Saint-Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics) for the results of his research on the physics of metamaterials (artificial materials with electromagnetic properties not found in nature) and their applications in miniaturizing components for optical and electronic devices;

Alexei Bobrovsky (Lomonosov Moscow State University) for his scientific achievements in creating multifunction liquid crystal polymers for use in information technology;

Alexei Knyazev (Tomsk State University) for the development and industrial trials and use of technology for producing glyoxal with application of nano-catalysts;

Yekaterina Shishatskaya (Institute of Biophysics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) for research on development of technology for producing biodegradable polymers (trademark BIOPLASTOTAN) and establishing the scientific foundations for their use in medical practice.
