Eternal Flame is once again burning at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin walls

February 23, 2010, Alexander Garden, Moscow

On Defender of the Fatherland Day the Eternal Flame was returned to the memorial in Alexander Garden from Poklonnaya Hill, where it was transferred in December 2009 due to the memorial site’s renovation.

Today the memorial reopened and its complete restoration will be accomplished by May 9, 2010.

According to presidential executive order a national memorial of military glory will be created in Alexander Garden. In particular, the memorial will include a new monument honouring the cities that were awarded the title of City of Military Glory.

The President laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
