Condolences on the death of Magomedali Magomedov

Vladimir Putin sent condolences to Head of the Republic of Daghestan Sergei Melikov and to the family and friends of Magomedali Magomedov over his death.

The message reads, in part:

“Magomedali Magomedov, an outstanding statesman and public figure, a faithful son of Daghestan, has passed away. Magomedali Magomedov sincerely cared about the fate of his native land and the well-being of his countrymen; he was well aware of their concerns and aspirations. In a trying time for the North Caucasus and all of Russia, he showed unparalleled courage and fortitude and made a great personal contribution to strengthening peace and harmony in the Republic and preserving the country's territorial integrity.

We will always remember this outstanding man of iron will, a true patriot and citizen.”

Soviet and Russian politician Magomedali Magomedov, former Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Daghestan, died on December 4 at the age of 92.
