Dmitry Medvedev had talks with French Prime Minister Francois Fillon, visited Paris City Hall, and met with the heads of both houses of the French parliament

March 2, 2010, Paris

At a meeting in the Matignon Palace, Dmitry Medvedev and Francois Fillon discussed bilateral issues and the future of relations between the Russian Federation and the European Union. Following their talks, the French Prime Minister held a formal dinner in honour of the Russian President. The dinner was attended by Russian and French ministers, as well as representatives of business circles.

At the Hotel de Ville, the building housing the City of Paris’s administration, Dmitry Medvedev met with Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoe and intelligentsia from both nations as well as representatives of the Russian community.

In his speech at the City Hall, the President of Russia expressed certainty that the Year of Russia in France and the Year of France in Russia will be highly successful, helping to boost humanitarian, economic, and other relations.

Dmitry Medvedev also met with President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher and President of the French National Assembly Bernard Accoyer.

Dmitry Medvedev also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe.

The programme for the second day of the visit ended with a state dinner at the Elysee Palace, hosted by President Nicolas Sarkozy and his spouse Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in honour of President Medvedev and his spouse Svetlana Medvedeva.
