At the initiative of the Brazilian side, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
The President of Brazil shared his impressions of participating in the recent G7 summit (Hiroshima, Japan, May 20–21, 2023), and also outlined his vision of possible mediation efforts to find ways of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
The President of Russia gave a principled assessment of the developments around Ukraine, while confirming that Russia is open to dialogue on the political and diplomatic track, which is still blocked by Kiev and its Western sponsors.
The presidents discussed several current aspects of the Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership, and expressed mutual interest in its further progressive development and deepening of practical cooperation in various fields.
In addition, they considered issues related to joint work within BRICS and other multilateral platforms.
The conversation was constructive and substantive.
