Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the 9th Red Square Book Festival.
The message reads, in part:
“Your forum is always a vibrant and long-anticipated event that brings together authors, representatives of the publishing industry, library business, cultural, research, and expert circles on the main square of the Russian capital. This broad celebration of reading is a truly priceless gift for many book lovers. After all, despite the widespread use of advanced technologies and innovative media, books remain the most important source of enlightenment. They teach us kindness, foster the best qualities in a person and provide high moral guidelines.
I would like to note that this year's festival programme is rich and diverse. Visitors will enjoy a variety of very well organised events, performances by popular bands, meetings with well-known authors and poets, as well as those who are only just starting their writing careers, including those from the new regions of Russia.
I am sure that the festival will attract an interested audience of a large number of specialists and guests, will contribute to the popularisation of high-quality and meaningful literature and generally promote the culture of reading, especially among young people.”
