Telephone conversation with President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan

June 7, 2023

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The presidents continued to discuss topical issues of Russian-Turkish cooperation. They expressed mutual confidence that a multifaceted and mutually beneficial partnership in various spheres would continue to develop dynamically. In this context, they noted their commitment to the consistent implementation of joint projects in energy, trade and tourism.

A range of international topics was also touched upon, including further coordination in multilateral organisations.

The presidents discussed the situation around Ukraine. Vladimir Putin stated that the Kiev authorities, at the suggestion of their Western handlers, were still making a dangerous bet on the escalation of hostilities, committing war crimes, openly using terrorist methods and organising sabotage on Russian territory. A clear example of this was the barbaric action to destroy the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson Region, which resulted in a large environmental and humanitarian catastrophe.

The President of Russia once again congratulated his Turkish counterpart on his official assumption of office. The two leaders agreed to maintain a regular personal dialogue.
