Vladimir Putin congratulated the staff of the Amur Tiger Centre, established under the auspices of the Russian Geographical Society, on the centre’s 10th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“The centre performs an important, relevant mission of studying and preserving the population of Amur tigers, whose range is concentrated mainly on the territory of our country.
It is gratifying that over the past years, through joint efforts, we have managed to achieve tangible results in preserving and increasing the number of the “masters of the Amur taiga,” ensuring a safe environment for their habitat. We are developing the infrastructure of nature reserves, national parks and hunting supervision services, and improving relevant legislation. This unconditional success became possible thanks to the painstaking and tireless work of biologists, ecologists, local historians and volunteers and, of course, thanks to the energy, enthusiasm and devotion of many caring people.”
