At the West Sakhalin field the President was shown the technological processes involved in oil production and in the construction, development and exploitation of oil wells. Electricity at the field is produced by a gas-fired power station, which resolves the problem of the associated gas utilisation.

At the Priobskoye oil field Mr Medvedev attended the ceremony for the launch in operation of the first stage of Priobskoye gas turbine power plant.

Mr Medvedev also met with the Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, Natalya Komarova.
