Vladimir Putin sent greetings to President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the Liberation Day of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The message reads, in part:
”This holiday is a symbol of the courage and heroism of the Red Army soldiers and Korean patriots who fought together to liberate your country from Japanese colonial rule. It was during that harsh war period that traditions of friendship and cooperation were established, which became a reliable basis for the development of neighbourly relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK.
I am confident that we will continue to build up bilateral cooperation in all areas for the benefit of our peoples and in the interests of strengthening stability and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the Northeast Asia region as a whole.“
