On August 22–24, Vladimir Putin will take part, via videoconference, in the 15th BRICS Summit that is being held under the Chairmanship of South Africa.
Current issues of BRICS’s activities will be discussed at the summit meetings, as well as during an informal meeting of the leaders, such as possible expansion, the global and regional agendas, and prospects for further development of the BRICS partnership in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. Vladimir Putin will inform the summit participants about the priorities of the Russian BRICS Chairmanship, which will begin in 2024.
The final agreements will be recorded in the Johannesburg Declaration of the 15th BRICS Summit.
A meeting of the leaders of the “five” is also planned in the BRICS+ outreach format, to which over fifty country leaders and heads of the executive bodies of regional organisations are invited.
As per tradition, the BRICS Business Forum will be held on the eve of the summit, where Vladimir Putin will deliver video greetings to participants and guests.
There will be a Russian delegation in Johannesburg led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
