Vladimir Putin visited an exhibition of prospective space industry projects at the S.P. Korolyov Rocket and Space Corporation Energia.
The President was updated on the implementation of the Sphere (Sfera) federal project and batch production of spacecraft. The goal is to create multi-satellite groups that will ensure broadband internet access and remote Earth sensing. The exhibition includes the Skif-D and Marafon IoT (Internet of Things) spacecraft.
The President was also shown samples of engines for small spacecraft, models of promising reusable launch vehicles, including Amur-SPG, and the Transport Energy Module, a new orbital transfer vehicle with a nuclear engine. Its creation will help address a number of issues, in particular, delivering cargo to the lunar orbit and cleaning up debris in Earth’s orbit.
Other items at the exhibition include the latest comprehensive near-earth monitoring system Mlechny Put (Milky Way) and forward-looking designs and services created by private Russian companies.
The President was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Director General of Roscosmos Yury Borisov and chief designer of Rocket and Space Corporation Energia Vladimir Solovyov.
