Vladimir Putin sent greetings to President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The message reads, in part:
“At a time when a bloody conflict is bringing unspeakable suffering to the civilian population of Palestine, I believe it is particularly important to reaffirm Russia’s consistent position in favour of exercising the legitimate rights of your people to establish their own sovereign state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is what we see as the key condition for achieving a comprehensive, long-term and just Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
I am confident that through a joint effort we will be able to ensure further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations and beneficial cooperation in various areas. This is undoubtedly in our common interests and is in line with strengthening regional security and stability.”
